Forever Reign (by Hillsong)
You are good, You are good When there’s nothing good in me
You are love, You are love On display for all to see
You are light, You are light When the darkness closes in
You are hope, You are hope You have covered all my sin
You are peace, You are peace When my fear is crippling
You are true, You are true Even in my wandering
You are joy, You are joy You’re the reason that I sing
You are life, You are life, In You death has lost its sting
Oh, I’m running to Your arms
I’m running to Your arms
The riches of Your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to Your embrace
Light of the world forever reign
You are more, You are more Than my words will ever say
You are Lord, You are Lord All creation will proclaim
You are here, You are here In Your presence I’m made whole
You are God, You are God Of all else I’m letting go
Oh, I’m running to Your arms
I’m running to Your arms
The riches of Your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to Your embrace
Light of the world forever reign
My heart will sing
no other Name
Jesus, Jesus
Oh, I’m running to Your arms
I’m running to Your arms
The riches of Your love
Will always be enough
Today, I’m running to the Lord. His faithful and loving arms are holding me tightly and I can feel their powerful grip, which I’m so thankful for. I am meditating and thinking on all the things that characterize my Heavenly Father, the One who holds all things together and am amazed at His love and care for me.
As this will be no surprise to you, there have been some rough days already in the 6 (almost 7) weeks that I have been in Paraguay, today being one of them. Although moving to a new country is exciting and fun, there are some things that are also discouraging and hard. Being here means trying new foods, visiting new places, and meeting new people, which are all awesome! But, it also means I am away from everything familiar to me. At times, it almost feels like I’m not even myself anymore and I am living a life that is not my own. It means that I am starting from scratch in building relationships with people, worshiping the Lord not only at a different church – but in a different language, and that I can’t even communicate with people on a basic
level. When I am focused on all these new changes and challenges, it is so very easy to get discouraged!
BUT, God is so good! He is so faithful to remind me of the bigger picture. While living in Paraguay may be hard at times, I can still sit back and say I would rather be no where else in the world. I would rather be walking with the Lord being exactly in the place that He has for me here in Paraguay than back in Michigan, the state I love with all my heart (which also happens to include most of my favorite people 😉 ). I have really been thinking and praying that this would be true of me each and every moment: “Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere” (Ps. 84:10).
He is so gracious to gift me with the privilege of being involved in the work that He is accomplishing here to bring more people to Himself. I can’t even begin to fathom why He would choose to use me, a feeble and weak woman, to make His glory resound here in
Paraguay and to bring hope and light to their dying souls through Jesus Christ. I continually pray that I would be moldable and useful in His almighty hands, that I will walk with Him each moment, and that those I come in contact would be meeting the face of Christ – even if I can’t speak to them in full, complete sentences yet. 🙂
So, yes. Living life here in Paraguay is sometimes hard. But, I serve the God of the universe who loves and cares for me, and is continually beckoning me to come to Him so He can wrap me in His arms, and I am so thankful that in the end (and even now), it is worth it. God is glorified and more people will come to know the life that He can provide through His Son, Jesus Christ.
